Event Type

Our powerful and moving Yom HaShoah service will feature a presentation by Holocaust survivor, Aron Krell.

Born in Lodz, Poland, the Nazis forcibly resettled him and his family into the Lodz Ghetto. He lived in the Lodz Ghetto from its inception on April 1, 1940 until its liquidation on August 28, 1944. When the ghetto was liquidated, his family was transported to Auchwitz-Birkenau. Aron survived five Nazi work camps. He was tortured, hungry, and forced to work from dawn to dusk in the harsh winter of Europe just to stay alive. He was finally liberated outside of Mauthausen on May 5, 1945, the date he considers to be his birthday – a very special day to celebrate his life.

The number of survivors of the Holocaust who are alive to recount their first-hand experiences is dwindling. Hear Aron tell about his ordeal and help ensure that we never forget the six million Jews that perished in the Holocaust.

This presentation is appropriate for everyone 9 years of age and older.
