This program will look at how a new generation of Jews and non-Jews spurred a revival of interest in the Yiddish language. Led by the proliferation of Klezmer bands in Europe and throughout the U.S. and the search for information about their own ancestry, students of Yiddish are rediscovering the association of the Yiddish language with Jewish resistance and resilience during the Holocaust, as well as movements for social justice
