PRIDE:  Promoting a Brighter Future

Woodlands Community Temple in White Plains, its LGBTQ+ Task Force, its Youth & Family Engagement Committee, and WoodSY, its Senior Youth Group invite you to join us as we livestream our 5th annual Pride Shabbat service at 8:00 pm ET on Friday, June 4, 2021 (facebook.com/wctemple). This warm, welcoming service of inclusion and love will feature Dana Kaplan, Executive Director of Outright Vermont. Dana is the nephew of longtime temple member Alan Kaplan.

Outright Vermont builds hope, equity and power for LGBTQ+ youth 22 and under to counter the fact that queer youth are at much higher risk for suicide than their heterosexual peers. It provides safe havens for young people–support groups, events and workshops, along with statewide education and outreach, to ensure that schools and other entities offer safe, supportive spaces. Caring adults mentor young people, with goals of empowerment, education and growth. Dana will relate their experience in Vermont to our ongoing work in Westchester.
