Join us for a special screening of Unbroken in commemoration of Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Glass,” a pivotal moment in history that marked the escalation of Nazi persecution against Jews in 1938.
Unbroken, directed by Beth Lane, chronicles the seven Weber siblings who evaded capture and death, and ultimately escaped Nazi Germany following their mother’s incarceration and murder at Auschwitz. The film tells a powerful true story of resilience, survival, and the enduring strength of the human spirit in the face of unthinkable adversity. Through deeply personal accounts and historical reflection, the film offers a moving tribute to those who lived through the Holocaust.
Following the screening, we will have a talkback with director Beth Lane, who will share insights into the making of the film, her grandmother’s family history that inspired it, and the importance of remembering the past to shape a more compassionate future.
Beth will be in conversation with Marla Felton and Sue Spiegel, the founders of Common Circles. Common Circles is dedicated to making a difference in our world by creating research-based interactive experiences that combine techniques from psychology with cutting-edge technology, the arts, and storytelling to improve intergroup relations, increase empathy, reduce antisemitism and bias, and encourage changed behaviors in our communities.
Light refreshments will be served at the end of the program.
