Over the course of the 20th century, many Jews became assimilated into the conception of white identity in America. At the same time, Jews were prominent in the Civil Rights era, and have found inspiration in the way Rabbi Heschel marched with Dr. King. We will parse this history to better understand the moment we are in today, and consider how white Jews, Jews of Color, and the Jewish community as a collective, might move forward in the work of racial justice.
