Meet film documentarian Sophie Parens in-person at GHC and view Sophie’s acclaimed, award-winning documentary ZAIDA!

Zaida tells the story of Sophie’s grandfather Henri Parens who escaped from the Holocaust at the age of 12 and went on to become a globally recognized psychoanalyst, dedicating his life’s work to the prevention of prejudice. Zaida has been shown at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in NYC, the 2022 Jacob Burns Jewish Film Festival and other prestigious film festivals around the country.

After the showing of the documentary Sophie will be leading a discussion and Q&A session. The documentary (approximately ½ hour long) and Q&A will be able to be viewed virtually as well.

About Sophie Parens : Sophie Parens is a director and producer based in New York. Originally from Sleepy Hollow, she graduated from the New School for Drama with a concentration in Directing in 2017. She is the producer and director of the award-winning documentary short, Zaida. By day she does casting, producing, and directing for Simon and Schuster Audiobooks, and by night she is developing her next documentary.

A light breakfast will be provided. Cost: $10/person
