Dive into the world of contemporary American TV to explore how Jewish identity is portrayed in popular shows like TransparentCurb Your EnthusiasmThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Broad CitySex and the CityNobody Wants This, and more! Together, we’ll watch and analyze key scenes that tackle Jewish rituals, holidays, lifecycle events, interdating and intermarriage, antisemitism, and the ever-complicated relationship with Israel.

This discussion-based class will be both thought-provoking and entertaining, offering a chance to reflect on how TV captures (or distorts!) the modern Jewish experience. Heads up: some shows include explicit language and themes—just like real life! Bring your curiosity and your opinions for what’s sure to be a lively conversation.
