Temple Israel Center – How to Create an Ethical Will: Let Your Legacy Live On!

When

February 21, 2021
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Event Type

Our Bible describes the ancient practice of passing on one’s life wisdom and values to loved ones and future generations through an Ethical Will. In this digital world, made more isolating by the pandemic, personal values, family histories and life lessons are easily ignored or forgotten. Learning to write an Ethical Will can help explain to your loved ones your life wisdom, perspective and family values and serve as a source of guidance and comfort to them in the future. Ethical Wills are fast becoming a renewed and worthwhile tradition in our current culture. Amy Paul, President of HeirloomWords, will discuss the many benefits to writing an Ethical Will and help get you started on writing one. (NOTE: An Ethical Will is not a legal document and is not a substitute for a legal will).

Amy Paul worked as a corporate attorney for over 10 years and then switched to working in the non-profit sector. Most recently, she was the Executive Director for two non-profits that advocated on behalf of older individuals, one in Westchester and one in NYC. In this capacity, she was a frequent speaker at community forums and has testified before many legislative bodies. In 2017, she formed HeirloomWords LLC to promote the understanding and writing of Ethical Wills.
