The revival of Yiddish song is the central focus of the Vienna Jewish Choir. Using music to build bridges between different cultures and within their own diverse community, choir members seek to foster intercultural understanding. Principally a folk song choir, the Vienna Jewish Choir breathes new life into songs that have been passed down through generations and nearly perished during the Shoa. Jewish music once again has a firm place in today’s rich Viennese cultural scene.
Under the direction of Roman Grinberg the choir’s concerts in Manhattan, Westchester County and Long Island will present a repertoire of commemoration, hope and peace. Songs are presented in Yiddish, Hebrew, and Ladino.
