DESCRIPTION:This is the story of five Howard University students who sat on
  a carousel in 1960 and those who joined their movement as the first organ
 ized interracial civil rights protest in U.S. history began. From this beg
 inning to the formation of the Freedom Riders\, witness the untold story o
 f those who heeded the impulse to activism.\n\nJoin us in the Bendheim Per
 forming Arts Center for a screening of this powerful film. A Q&amp\;A with

 programs for thirty years. She has explored worlds for PBS\, HBO Family\, 
 ABC-TV\, Showtime\, Lifetime\, Discovery\, A&amp\;E\, and the Sundance Cha
 nnel\; pursuing stories such as the legacy of slavery in Latin America\, s
 ocial activism among Gulf Coast shrimpers\, the first LGBTQ activists\, gl
 assblowing with disenfranchised youth\, and elderly prima ballerinas. Her 
 favorite PBS prime-time credits include directing the independent feature
  Mariachi High\; the series Black in Latin America hosted by Henry Loui
 s Gates\; Texas Ranch House\; and producing for History Detectives and
  Reading Rainbow. Ilana’s feature\, Praying with Lior\, played in ove
 r 60 cities\, winning six Audience Awards for Best Documentary and critica
 l acclaim from the New York Times\, New York Magazine\, Washington Post
 \, and Philadelphia Inquirer.\n\nAin’t No Back to a Merry-Go-Round was
  a 10-year labor of love for Ilana and is now premiering in festivals nati
 onwide\; it will premiere in New York as the closing film at the Jewish Fi
 lm Festival this month.
