Over 800 people attended the Westchester celebration of Israel@65 hosted by the Westchester Day School and Westchester Hebrew High School. The Board of Directors of the Westchester Jewish Council, met in August at the home of Harriet and Len Schliefer for its annual Summer Board Meeting.  Joining us at the meeting was our County Executive Rob Astorino, who updated the Board on matters of concern to Westchester Jewry.

Over 450 people attended the 36th Annual Meeting of the Westchester Jewish Council.  The program included the presentation of the Class of 2012 Julian Y. Bernstein Distinguished Service Award Winners. 

The installation of officers of the Westchester Jewish Council was conducted by the Westchester County Executive the Hon. Robert Astorino.

Westchester Adult Jewish Education (WAJE) offers Jewish adults 3, 5 and 10-week classes across a spectrum of Jewish topics.  The study of sacred texts, history, contemporary literature, Israeli cinema, Jewish meditation, ethics, philosophy and music as midrash are just a few of the 2011-12 course topics awaiting WAJE students.

Pam Wexler, Westchester Regional Chair of UJA-Federation of New York, and Ron Burton, President of the Westchester Jewish Council, light Westchester's tallest Hanukiyah on Hanukah at the JCC of Mid-Westchester.  With the help of a massive Con Edison "cherry picker," Ron and Pam went 8 stories high into the night sky to the delight of over 100 assembled community leaders and staff of the JCC
